Good to be on the front page again but it’s not true that we claim” the only consultation residents answered was over the location of the proposed development on Princes Parade held by SDC in June 2014.” This consultation was carried out by Shepway’s PR consultants and the only choice offered was whether the new Leisure Centre should be on the east or west end of Princes Parade. Shepway have carried out various “public consultations” but the only one we recognise as having been properly carried out was the Issues & Options consultation carried out as part of the Local Plan process early in 2015.
More council Meetings/Local Plan Update
At the recent cabinet meeting it was confirmed that the next stage of the Local Plan has been postponed until March 2016. However, Andy Jarrett will be presenting his Princes Parade report to cabinet on Nov 4th 5pm. Please put the date in your diary and try to join us in the public gallery. The Princes Parade project will also be discussed by the Resources Scrutiny Committee on 28th Oct at 7pm. Again your support would be much appreciated.
Hythe Town Council Meeting
There will be a presentation about Hythe swimming pool by two Shepway officers at this Thursday’s Hythe Town Council meeting – 16th July 6.45pm.
Cabinet Meeting 22nd July
Princes Parade will be on the agenda on 22nd July – probably as part of the Local Plan update. Please join us in the public gallery.
Contamination Testing
Shepway will be carrying out tests on site on 17th & 18th June. They say an ecologist will be present.
Local Elections
May 7th is election day for the District Council as well as the General Election. Think about the future of Princes Parade when you vote.
Places and Policies Consultation
A huge response. Thank you to all who sumitted comments. You can read them here.
Heritage Impact Assessment
Although Shepway didn’t initially want to release it, we have finally obtained the Heritage Impact Report written for Shepway by Lee Evans Architects. Read it here.
Hythe Civic Society Meeting
Good presentation from Dave Shore (Shepway officer) at last night’s Hythe Civic Society meeting. At last they are prepared to face the public and tell us where they are with the project – which isn’t very far by the sound of it. Still no recent contamination report, they are still talking to KCC, the Diocese and English Heritage and they still need to review their development assumptions before coming up with a new master plan and business case.
Local Plan Consultation
The consultation includes options for a policy affecting Princes Parade so it’s vital that we all take the time to submit comments more info
