A recent Freedom of Information request has revealed that the cost of the PR company employed by Shepway District Council was £35000. Is this a good use of public money?
Hythe Town Council
Hythe Town Council will rather belatedly be discussing their views on Princes Parade on 3 July 6.45 at Hythe Town Hall. Be there.
Shepway’s latest press release claims that 79% of the people filling out the questionaire at last week’s event fully or partly support the project. However only 94 of the 170 visitors filled out a form (40 fully supporting, 34 generally supporting). At the Seabrook event 145 of the 320 visitors filled out a form with 56 people fully or partly supporting the scheme and 88 people opposing the scheme. To put these figures into prospective Hythe has a population of about 15000 . Our online petition has 596 signatures and we got another 500 or so on paper.
You can still sign our online petition if you haven’t already done so.
Next Exhibition
The next exhibition (hosted by Shepway’s PR company so not a consultation whatever they may say) will be at the South Road Sports Pavilion on Thurs June 5 11 -7pm.
Figures are Indicative Only
In today’s Herald Shepway admits that “Figures are indicative only” and “ At this stage it was never the intention to show every level of cost.”
Exhibition May 23rd
Shepway are now wasting money on a PR company. They have set up their own website and are holding an exhibition on Friday at Seabrook Church Hall 11 – 7pm. Go along and make your feelings heard.
Hythe Neighbourhood Plan
Last night Hythe Town Council voted to pull the plug on the Neighbourhood Plan despite the fact that the item wasn’t even on the agenda. They didn’t seem to understand that Neighbourhood Plans are the public’s chance to have a say in the future of their towns. Or maybe they did and that was the problem.
Today’s Herald
Great article in today’s Herald by Jim Martin but I don’t think much of Roger Joyce’s idea of building on the Imperial Golf Course and moving the golf course eastwards to meet the play area at Seabrook. Susan Wood wrote a letter defending the golf course but thinks it would be ok to build the pool and a restauarant on ” the old rubbish tip.” It might have a been a landfill site many years ago but now it’s a green open space and lets hope it stays that way.
Imperial Golf Course
The Imperial Golf course has been submitted as a potential development site as part of the Local Plan process
